Obviously location is one of the most important factors when choosing your home, and property prices will reflect this. If you choose to look at properties in a different area or even across country it can be daunting to find a location that accommodates your lifestyle and budget, but where you know you will be making a smart investment too.
To help you discover the right place for your new home, here are some important factors to consider:
If you commute to work using public transport it is important that you research transport links when looking into different areas for properties.
Shops, restaurants, pubs and post offices all tend to be basic requirements so research what there is and think about what is most important for you and what you are prepared to compromise on.
If you have children or would like to have them in the future it is important to find out about schools and catchment areas and if you would be happy with them. If you don’t have children this is always a key factor to consider as it can impact your property when selling in the future.
Affordability – Location Is Key but Where Can You Afford To Live?
Prices can vary significantly between areas and even within streets. Always make sure to research the variation of property prices in each area.
Would you rather live in a lively urban area with lots of amenities and activities, or a quiet rural setting without neighbours?
Type of Property
Period properties or new builds? Research property prices and council tax rates to get an idea of affordability in an area.
Wherever you choose to buy, think long term. Do research and find out about the area and future plans such as potential housing developments or transport links that could impact the area, these could impact any future sale.
