THIS is a landmark year for the twin Solicitors Property Centres in Dundee and Perth. It was 40 years ago that both Centres were created by perceptive local lawyers, who were convinced it was the way ahead for the buying and selling of all manner of homes. And it was 25 years ago that the Tayside Solicitors Property Centre and Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre teamed-up to launch this highly valued weekly Property Guide, which continues to be regarded as the bible by housebuyers throughout the region.
The first link in the successful Solicitors Property Centre chain was forged in Aberdeen but Perth and Dundee quickly embraced the philosophy. Crucially, it proved an immediate and enduring hit with the public. Both ventures have relocated and expanded down the years - moves prompted by the demand for marketing properties on behalf of a growing band of clients.
And they have never contemplated standing still. Nowadays, in the internet age, both Centres offer access to impressive and ever evolving websites, in addition to more traditional shop windows, including the area's only weekly property publication. The market has changed dramatically since those far-off days of 1970, when the pop charts were preparing for the onset of glam rock.
But the Solicitors Property Centres' popularity has remained undiminished, developing through a series of economic cycles. Between them, the Centres provide effective coverage of territory ranging from Montrose to Kinross-shire and the banks of Loch Leven, taking in Lochearnhead to the west and Blair Atholl in Highland Perthshire. North-east Fife also comes under TSPC wing.
Sellers relying on a member law firm to market their homes gain access to a package fine-tuned over the years, supported by the Centre's professional and highly trained staff. Properties enjoy a domestic and international profile courtesy of the Solicitors Property Centre network and websites reporting thousands of hits every month. It's far removed from 1970 but the Centres in Perth and Dundee continue to meet demands and expectations of property buyers and sellers in the second decade of the 21st Century.
