THE Tayside Solicitors Property Centre supported a weekend sponsored walk for Roxburghe House in memory of two much loved members of the legal fraternity.

Close friends and colleagues Eileen Matthew, a respected TSPC board member, and fellow Miller Hendry partner Jennifer Adams, were cared for by the Dundee hospice before passing away in 2014 and 2010 respectively.

In recognition of the care and support provided by hospice staff, the fundraiser was organised by Eileens family, including her husband Alan, who is a partner with the local legal firm, along with daughters Katherine and Eleanor.

Supportive Tayside law firms have rallied round and generous donations have been flooding in, ensuring that the total, including Gift Aid, has quickly soared beyond the £7000 mark and rising.

The weekend challenge got under way at Auchallater, near the Glenshee Ski Centre, and progressed along Jocks Road for over 19 kilometres through some spectacular scenery, before finishing at Glen Doll, where a barbecue was held for walkers and sponsors.

Alan said: “The support from the local legal community across Tayside has been particularly touching and I'm very grateful to them for choosing to remember Eileen and Jennifer in this way - and to generously add to our fundraising efforts.

“Eileen was a board member of the TSPC and we are grateful for the Whitehall Crescent Centres support, along with donations made on behalf of Blackadders and Thorntons, as well as other donations from individual local solicitors.

“The funds raised will help Roxburghe House continue to deliver excellent support and care to individuals and their families at a very difficult time.

“We are proud to be able to give something back to Roxburghe House in recognition of their work in caring for both Eileen and Jennifer in their final weeks."

The day before the main walk, Alan and his daughter Eleanor also took on the challenging Lairig Ghru pass through the Cairngorm Plateau from Colyumbridge to the Linn o Dee, a demanding 30.5km trek.

He explained: “Eileen loved the great outdoors so she would have thoroughly enjoyed our sponsored walk.”
